How Do I Apply For A Refund If My Taxes Have Been Over Paid?

If your account has been paid twice and you would like a refund.  Please submit the following:

  • Description of property in question (address or account number).
  • Copy of the front and back of each check submitted for payment.
  • Statement from each party agreeing as to whom and where the refund will be sent.
  • Since refunds are issued twice a month, please have your request in the Tax Office by the 10th and 20th of the current month

I sold the property, but I received a Tax Bill?

If you are not the present owner of the property, please forward the bill to the current owner. You may return the bill to us in the envelope provided with the bill. Please include a note stating when you sold the property, and to whom it was sold to.

I Need A Copy Of A Lien Release, How And Where Do I Obtain One?

If you need a copy of a Lien Release, you can either come in, or request one through the mail. Also for your convenience you can download a copy of the Information Request Form  the fee is $10.00 per each property for research plus $2.00 for each receipt you are requesting.

If you are requesting a copy of a Lien Release through the mail then you will need to be specific in what you need. Please indicate the property location, the name on the account and which year(s) you need of the Lien Release.  Please include a check for $12.00 for each property being requested.

I Need A Duplicate Receipt For My Taxes, How And Where Do I Obtain One?

If you need a receipt you can either come in, or request one through the mail. In addition, for your convenience you can download a copy of the Information Request Form  there will be a $2.00 fee for each property and each year you are requesting.

In order to avoid paying a $2.00 fee for duplicate receipts, you can request this at the time you make your payment(s). Please include with your payment a stamped, self-addressed envelope and a paid receipt will be mailed to you.

If you are requesting a receipt through the mail, then you will need to be specific in what you need. Please indicate the property location, the name on the account and which year(s) you need the receipt for.  Please include the $2.00 fee for each property a receipt is requsted for.

I Never Received My Real Estate Bill, How Would I Obtain A Copy?

Contact the Tax Collector's Office for a Duplicate Bill. However, if there is an incorrect mailing address you will have to change it with the City of Nashua, NH Assessor’s Office.

How do I change my billing address on the Tax Bill?

If the address on your bill is not correct, you will need to do an address change  with the Assessor’s Office. You may also mail in your address change to the Assessor’s Office.

What Do I Do If I Receive My Real Estate Bill In The Wrong Name?

If you just purchased the property, it may take a while before the Record of Deeds provide this information to the Assessor's Office.  Once they receive the transfer of property, the Owner(s) name and address will be changed.
If there is an error in the spelling of your name, then you should contact the Assessor’s Office  to have them correct the bill.

What Period Of Time Does My Tax Bill Cover?

Your Real Estate Tax Bill does not cover any specific time period. The first bill is based on half of the previous years tax rate. The second bill is when the rate is set, and this will determine if your taxes will be higher or lower. Taxes will be prorated from April 1st of that year. When Should I Expect To Receive My Tax Bill?

The City of Nashua, NH billing year starts April 1st, and ends March 31st the following year, the bills are mailed twice each year and we collect taxes semi-annually. Payments are due July 1st and December 1st. The July bill is an estimate and only considered a partial payment towards that years tax. July is based on one half of the prior year's tax rate. The December bill is the final bill for the year. The December bill is based on the assessment for the year. For additional information, please see our Tax Rate History Page.
