National Public Works Week (May 18-24, 2008)

When you travel on a city street, take a stroll on the sidewalk, go to your public library, or stand under the shade of one of the many city-owned street trees, you are benefiting from services provided by the City of Nashua's Public Works Division. These benefits are an important part of our daily lives, but most of us take them for granted. Public Works' services range from cleaning, repairing, and maintaining city streets and sewers, to building and maintaining plazas, stairways, and other public areas. We coordinate street excavation work, remove graffiti and illegal signs; and regulate street and sidewalk use while enhancing and protecting the public right-of-way. Public Works Staff promote the under-grounding of overhead utilities; as well as provide architectural, civil, structural, and mechanical engineering services, including project and construction management. Approximately 200 employees provide the expertise, skill and labor to support all of these services to the people in the great City of Nashua day and night.
