Board of Public Works
The Board of Public Works Commissioners are elected by the citizens of Nashua. The Board consists of four members, an Aldermanic Liaison and the Mayor, who is the Chairman of the Board. All members serve a four-year term with two members elected every two years at the November municipal elections.
The Board is responsible for the overall direction and performance of the Public Works Division. They have complete oversight of all work and hold public meetings regularly during the year. Below are the Board’s areas of responsibility:
- Approval of the Division’s operating and capital budgets
- Approval of all purchases over $10,000
- Approval of all personnel items (hiring, promotions and transfers)
- Approval of all Street-paving projects
- Approval of all Sidewalk projects
- Approval of Sewer extensions
- Approval of Drain layer licenses
- Approval of all fees charged by the Division
- Approval of all Sewer and Drain Permits
- Approval of all major capital projects
