Fire Marshal Wood is a 23-year veteran of the fire and emergency medical services serving in volunteer, combination, and paid fire and EMS departments. He joined Nashua Fire Rescue April 20, 1992 and has served as a Fire Private, Assistant Superintendant of Training, Inspector/Investigator, and Fire Marshal. He leads Nashua Fire Rescue’s Community Risk Reduction efforts through managing the City’s fire investigation unit, fire and life safety inspectional services, fire plan review program, and public education and injury prevention programs. In addition, Wood was appointed by Mayor Streeter in March of 2007 to serve as Co-Director of Emergency Management for the City.
Fire Marshal Wood is a graduate of the National Fire Academy’s Executive Fire Officer Program, earned a BS from USNH College for Lifelong Learning in Fire Service Education and Administration, and an Associate Degree in Fire Science from the NH Community Technical College. In addition, Fire Marshal Wood is a graduate of New Hampshire’s 151st Part Time Police Academy having worked five years part time in Law Enforcement, is a Nationally Registered EMT, a Certified Fire and Explosion Investigator, Certified Fire Protection Specialist, Certified Fire Inspector 2, and Certified Fire Plans Examiner. He holds numerous other Fire Service credentials, is a Senior Staff Instructor for the NH Fire Academy, a member of the Adjunct Faculty for the Lakes Region Community College in Laconia, and is an Instructor for the National Fire Academy in Emmitsburg, MD.
Highly respected in his field, Fire Marshal Wood is an active member of the community serving as President of the NH Fire Prevention Society (NH-IAAI), a Member of the Fire Technologies Craft Committee for the Lakes Region Community College, and member of the Fire Inspector and Fire Officer Curriculum Visiting Committees at the NH Fire Academy.
