The Department of Building Safety is responsible for the review of construction and approval of building, electrical, mechanical and plumbing plans. The Department also receives the applications for permits for such work and performs the inspections.

The City of Nashua has adopted the 2000 Editions of the International Building Code, the International Residential Code, the International Mechanical Code, the International Plumbing Code, and enforces the 2005 Edition of the National Electrical Code. Effective August 17, 2007 per Senate Bill 81, the State of NH adopted the 2006 editions of the International Codes and the 2005 National Electrical Code. The new fees for the permits are listed under Ordinance-07-106.
